Sedation Dentistry Options - Your Comfort Is Important to Us
We understand that a trip to the dentist is a source of anxiety for many people. However, we strive to ensure that all of our patients are comfortable when they come in for dental work. At our Dental Arts Centers, quality dental care starts from the moment a patient steps into our offices. We feature relaxing waiting rooms in which patients have access to the CAESY Interactive Educational System, a tool that helps patients learn about their dental treatment. During treatment, patients can watch TV or a DVD or relax with their choice of music. Conscious- sedation dentistry options are available on request in our Orange County offices, including nitrous oxide, and oral sedation.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Dr. Frangopol offers nitrous oxide sedation for patients who are nervous about visiting the dentist. Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a safe and effective conscious sedation method to help patients relax during their appointment. The mild gas is administered through a mask; when inhaled, the effects can be felt within minutes. Anxiety and tension seem to just drift away, and nitrous oxide levels can be controlled to keep the patient in a relaxed state of mind during cosmetic dentistry or other treatment. Nitrous oxide wears off quickly after treatment, enabling the patient to safely drive home alone. This popular method of sedation dentistry is usually combined with local anesthesia for maximum patient comfort.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Patients who desire a stronger form of sedation have the option of oral conscious sedation. Patients take the oral medication an hour before they arrive for their appointment. The pill induces a state of relaxation and diminishes awareness of pain and other sensations during the appointment. Oral conscious sedation is a safe and effective way to get through dental treatment. Because they will begin to feel drowsy well before dental treatment, patients receiving sedation dentistry by pill will not be able to drive themselves to and from the appointment.

Computer Imaging
Dr. Frangopol is proud to feature the latest in computer imaging technology at his practices, which allows him to provide high-quality restorative and cosmetic dentistry services like CEREC® porcelain veneers and crowns and Teeth-in-an-Hour™ dental implants to his Orange County patients.
Teeth-in-an-Hour™
The computer imaging program used for the Teeth-in-an-Hour™ implant technique creates a surgical template base on which the prosthesis can be created for the patient. It also enables Dr. Frangopol to perform a virtual implant surgery in his Orange County practices without the patient being present. Since most of the dental work can be performed in the patient's absence, the amount of time the patient must spend at the dentist is reduced.
CEREC® 3D
The CEREC® 3D computer imaging system used in crafting premium porcelain veneers and crowns at Dr. Frangopol's Dental Arts Centers allows him to scan and design a three-dimensional restoration within minutes instead of weeks. The design is then sent to an on-site diamond-cut milling machine, where the restoration is produced while the patient waits. CEREC® technology allows Dr. Frangopol to customize and create dental crowns and veneers in approximately 15 minutes. The entire CEREC® process can be completed in as little as an hour. Because of this, the patient does not need to schedule appointments for multiple visits or deal with temporary crowns. Not only does the CEREC® 3D imaging system benefit patients by saving them tremendous time and money, it also saves them from discomfort due to impressions and temporary restorations. The result is a long-lasting and natural-looking restoration. Dr. Frangopol uses the CAD/CAM system to design and create porcelain veneers and crowns with the utmost detail and accuracy, and has created over a thousand restorations using advanced CEREC® 3D technology at his Orange County practices.

5X Magnification Viewing System and Intraoral Cameras
At his state-of-the-art cosmetic dentistry facilities in Orange County, Dr. Frangopol uses a high-quality 5X magnification viewing system with an intraoral camera that allows him to perform treatments of all kinds with exceptional precision. He first used the system as an educational tool while teaching at DSI, a California-based dental institute. He now incorporates this technology into his practice so patients can watch their dental treatment in real time. It also gives patients the opportunity to view before-and-after results of their treatment on a monitor without having to move from the dental chair. The 5X magnification viewing system and intraoral camera promote patient interaction, which Dr. Frangopol believes is vital to learning about dental care.
Digital X-Rays and CT Scans
Our practices use digital x-ray and CT Scan technologies to take pictures of our patients teeth. The new technology is safer for our patients because it produces 90 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays. Digital x-rays are also environmentally friendly since no harsh chemicals are needed for image development. The digital x-rays allow both Dr. Frangopol and his patients to view areas of concern in the mouth on a high-resolution computer screen, which assists in diagnosis, treatment, and education. Digital photo images also allow for paperless patient files because they are archived instantly on office computers.
Laser Technology
Our practices take advantage of the most modern laser technologies available in the field of dentistry. We utilize both soft- and hard-tissue lasers to provide our patients with a wide variety of dental services for teeth, gums, and more. We feature the VersaWave™ Er:YAG laser, the most versatile treatment laser that can be used on both hard and soft tissue, as well as the Odyssey® Diode soft tissue laser. These lasers allow us to remove decay, treat periodontal disease, and more, without the need for drills, anesthesia, or invasive surgery. Soft-tissue lasers can also sterilize gums, enabling treated areas to heal faster than with traditional scraping procedures. Our lasers have been featured in the news and allow for simple and painless general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry treatments.

Dr. Frangopol believes the more patients know about dental care, the better able they are to care for their teeth. He takes the time to send his new patients a CD before their first appointment to familiarize them with his Orange County practices.
